Baroque period

Most important and major painting during the period beginning around 1600 and continuing throughout the 17th century, and into the early 18th century is identified today as Baroque painting. Baroque period developed during Louie IV era.He was know has sun king. Baroque art is characterized by great drama, rich, deep color, and intense light and dark shadows. As opposed to Renaissance art, which usually showed the moment before an event took place, Baroque artists chose the most dramatic point, the moment when the action was occurring: Michelangelo, working in the High Renaissance, shows his David composed and still before he battles Goliath.
Bernini's baroque David is caught in the act of hurling the stone at the giant. Baroque art was meant to evoke emotion and passion instead of the calm rationality that had been prized during the Renaissance. Baroque painting often dramatizes scenes using chiaroscuro light effects. The effect of light and shadow.The Baroque architecture was grandeur and room sizes were big and very high ceiling. Furniture was also grandeur and big in proportion to human scale. Furniture was always placed against walls. All the chairs had stretchers and scrolled armrest. Everything was grandeur and massive scale and ornate. Baroque period was followed by Rococo era and during this time the room sizes were started getting smaller. Furniture became more appropriate to human scale. Ceiling were lowered in height and brought it down to human proportion

In 15 th century Brunelleschi invented the one point perspective and its mathematical order and it has a great impact on the painting of that era . After invention of one point perspective by Brunelleschi many other architect and painter follow his rule of one point perspective. Massaccio is one of them and his famous painting Trinity is great example of it. This painting shows great understanding of one point perspective. In 16th century Leonardo da vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael were three leading artists of high renaissance. They also used method of liner perspective in their fresco work. Michelngelo studied missacio’s frescoes and made sketches to understand his methods. On the other hand Leonardo da vinci used liner perspective in his most famous painting last supper. This way the liner perspective is used from 15th century till today. Even today we use perspective for visual presentation. Here is the example of person who does perspective on street and side walk with chalk.
